Colin + Karly | Wedding

Explain your love story:

Colin and I are high school sweethearts. We met competing in a business competition and quickly became friends. In an effort to set up two of our good friends, we ending up falling in love instead. Then, after 5 years and 1,100 miles apart during college, we started to build a life together in Austin, TX. Just over a year ago, stars aligned with our jobs and we were able to move back home to Minnesota.

What is your go-to date as a couple?

Open a bottle of wine and cook a homemade meal from one of our cookbooks

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

My mom and I toured around eight venues in one day. As soon as we toured Nicollet Island Pavilion, we knew it was the place. We called my fiancé and Dad right away to have them come meet us and they couldn't agree more. We booked it and are so pleased.

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

If any family/friends offer their help the week of or day of the wedding, accept their offer. It allows them to be part of your big day and allows you to be the bride. Additionally, the day of the wedding, take the opportunity to sneak away with your new spouse and observe the wonderful day you put together and the amazing family/friends that are there to support you.

What has been your favorite part of the planning process?

Getting to spend quality time with my fiancé, mom, and other family/friends.

What's the best relationship/marriage advice you have received?

Never stop laughing and going on adventures together.
