Alex + Caitlyn | Wedding

Explain your love story:

Alex and I have will have been dating a little over five years when we got engaged. Alex proposed to me over memorial day weekend of 2018. We went back to our first date and bench where we almost had our first kiss in Munsinger Gardens. I literally had no idea I was getting engaged and thought it was just another date night/day with our two dogs. Everything in the moment was perfect – the water was still, the dogs were sitting (finally), and I turned around and there Alex was on one knee! Being he had the box upside down I wasn't sure if it was real (ha), but it was and of course I said yes. What I love most about our relationship is Alex is my person, it sounds super cliché but true. We laugh so hard together, we support each other, and we've always made the best team. Life without Alex wouldn't be as exciting and building a life together with someone you've been waiting your entire life can only get better.

What is your go-to date as a couple?

We love the outdoors and trying out new breweries! Every brewery loves dogs, so it's a win for us with two!

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

We chose our wedding ceremony site due to rich tradition. St. Boniface has been a place for many generation in which people have been married there. St. Boniface also over time as become a safe place for us. It's allowed us time to be together with our families and be reminded about how strong a faith really is when we need it most. For our reception site, we had chosen Blackberry Ridge because it was a perfect little getaway spot for people to gather and celebrate our big day together! Blackberry has a nice feel and helps us complete our theme!

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

My advice about planning a wedding is that you shouldn't stress. All the way from the tiny details to the big, none of that matters in the end. What truly matters is the people you have their with you and the person you are committing your life too! So don't stress because in the end it all works out the way it was meant to.

What has been your favorite part of the planning process?

Our favorite part of the planning process is doing everything together. We constantly made choices together because it's our day, not the just the brides or just the grooms. It was fun to see what one another likes!

What's the best relationship/marriage advice you have received?

Some solid advice we have gotten it to always choose one another. Not every day is going to be perfect, and in those times of imperfection we must always choose each other over and over again. We have some great examples of strong marriages to look up to that are perfectly imperfect but still have chosen one another.
