MEET THE COUPLE

Explain your love story:

Despite us growing up less than one mile from each other, we did not get introduced until the middle of our sophomore year of college. After a little bit of convincing from my good friend Cassie, I decided to opt in for a free meal and night on the town with John. Needless to say, John left a good first impression as it was only two weeks into dating until both of us moved abroad for the entire first year of our relationship.

What is your go-to date as a couple?

We like to make our own cocktails at home and then try a new local restaurant we haven't been to yet – we're big foodies, so something involving good food is a must for us. Then, go back home and watch a show or movie and likely head to bed early (we are big into sleep too). :)

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

We live in wine country now and it has been our first time creating a home together and living together away from Minnesota for the first time. It was really special to us that we found a winery back in our home state where our wedding will be.

What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

Don't get caught up in the details of the wedding as those are just material things that distract from the real meaning of what you are doing – making a commitment to the love of your life that through thick and thin, you will work endlessly to love one another!

What has been your favorite part of the planning process?

While it might be easy to get caught up in the details that are seemingly important in the moment, don't forget to remember the real reason why you are getting married. It's about the marriage, your love for each other and creating a life together. Ask deep questions and be sure to set aside time to grow and evolve together as a couple during this time. Read the book "10 things I wish I would have known before getting married".

What's the best relationship/marriage advice you have received?

There is no 50:50 in a relationship – it should be 100/100. Know that at any given time, your partner is giving 100 percent of him/herself to the situation at hand. There are no tasks that are expected for one role to fill – when you each just bring 100 percent of your real and true self to the relationship, you will be setup for a wonderful marriage.
